Silkie thread!

The recognized APA standard colors for Silkies are White, Black, Blue, Partridge, Buff, Gray -- but there are Splash, Paint, Red, Calico, Cuckoo, etc, as project birds not yet admitted to the standard to my knowledge. Both bearded and non-bearded seem to be accepted. There are many different colors of Partridge like Silver Partridge, etc, but the standard Partridge so far as I know are the gold-hackled, darker-crested, darker-tailed variety. People love Silkies so much some start dabbling in creating new colors but they aren't the standard accepted colors yet. Does this help or have I confused you more --

If I understood my research correctly, White Silkies carry other recessive colors and can hatch other colored offspring. I don't breed or study genetics and hope someone with show breeding knowledge will chime in.

I think they have quite a few types of cuckoo patterns around here there is partridge cuckoo, Grey cuckoo, blue cuckoo, buff cuckoo, blue partridge cuckoo, regular cuckoo, light grey cuckoo, I also seen a lemon cuckoo!!!

There might be more that are under way!!

I have some chicks that I hope turn into cuckoo they have alot of silver barring in there wings right now!!!

That's one bad thing about the feed store!! they are only $2. but you don't know the color!! All my silkies came from a breeder so I kinda had a idea on the color!
