That is normal coloration for a blue chick. The same way black chicks of many breeds have a "penguin" coloration to them at first.

Your little Silkie chick is blue. Splash are almost like yellow with a hint of lavender. Here is my splash momma with her blue and splash babies when they had just hatched

At three months and no combs, it's a good chance they are both pullets

This is interesting, my silkies are 3 months old and none have combs but I know three are boys for sure because they have streamers and two crow.

The BBS and partridge I've had, all the boys had a small bump by 3 months. The hens haven't usually ever developed anything. It's easy to tell partridge apart by color well before that so I'm going by comparisons.


I always feel bad when someone has boys crow that early. Mine never start before 6 months, and some have been quiet until nearly a year.
