Silkie thread!

Here is a picture of one of the young ones that hatched in the first hatch of 7. He is a really light blue/grey with this shadowing of tan. He is about 13 weeks old. The darker picture has a shadow making him look a little darker. His mom is a blue, his dad is this same color with the shadow of tan coloring but he is a really light gray almost silver. What color is he? Good, bad or indifferent. I don't care, I just need to know. :)

Mine has the same coloration, I'm curious to know as well!!
When I bought mine it was sold as a blue silkie. Then the tan spots started showing on its head & back .

Hi everyone! Would anyone mind taking a look at some of my silkies and trying to determine the sex?

Hatch date May 17 on the white, so about 12-13 weeks.

Looks like a cockerel to me... Comb is pretty big for 12-13 weeks and feathers are a little "swept back" on his head. But silkies are hard to tell until they crow or lay an egg... For the reasons above, I think the top black one is a cockerel, and the one below may be a pullet (smaller, flatter comb and a little more uniform on top), but 8-9 weeks is young for predictions based on pictures. At home, I look at behavior as well...

You think both whites and one black are cockerels? That would be my luck! They were hatched by a mama hen, and I haven't spent a lot of time observing them. I'll keep my eyes open though, and maybe update in a few weeks.

I didn't really read your post well... I didn't look close at the fact that there were 2 whites.... The top one looks cockerel to me... The bottom one has a more rounded crest, but the comb is a little big... Not as big as the top one, though... That one I would say could go either way. With that said, I have a few that are closer to 16 weeks that I am not absolutely sure of.... I was sure my white cockerel was a hen, big, round crest, small comb... then he crowed and matured a bit more. It really is hard to tell for sure until they lay an egg.
