Silkie thread!

Take the ones you find on the ground and place in other nests. Be sure to mark the ones she started sitting on so if the other hens lay in the same.nest you don't get staggered development. It's a nightmare.
I do have the ones marked with date layed. I cracked the one from yesterday and I don’t think it was fertile I couldn’t find a bullseye. I’m not even positive the ones my broody is on are viable as the week I collected I stored them on a bowl on the side as I didn’t know they should be in carton and not sure how long in nest box before I collect so they were really cold. I have just have to see when I candle. I’m setting up a bator today in preparation for eggs coming from fishmtfarm so I’ll give her a couple if those are no good.

What are you using for winter water. I bought a heated dog bowl but they are not using it. I keep going out and changing the water in the plastic gravity fed but that’s not going to work on weekdays while I’m at work. Also for some reason one of my pullets keeps getting her crest wet around her face and it’s frozen on the ends. This hasn’t happened before, her getting her crest wet when drinking. I’m wondering if I just give the the heated bowl they will use it. I’ve had it in with them since September so they could get use to it as they are so suspicious of anything new.
Could you put shiny rocks in it? That’s what I did last year with my rubber bowl.

Still not sure what color this Silkie chick is. Anyone?

I have a couple pet quality juvenile silkies available. One buff and one black. They are free so if anyone is interested, pm me. Unsure of sex. Buff has a beak that lines up from top to bottom but the whole thing is crooked so should not be bred. Black is dwarfy and not growing but is thriving. Is four times smaller than it should be.

I got this thermometer to use in incubator as a backup to what it comes with will this work?

My husband has these flashlights that have a lip in the top and the light beam can be zoomed in and out do you think this will work for candleing or do I need to buy something special?
