Silkie thread!

Oh darn. So that makes at least 2 males/9. These are my first partridges. Is the partridge at the top a pullet? I know one of the bluish ones on the right is male. View attachment 1207992

Closer up picture from side? Looks like it's female.

I usually use the flash when taking pictures inside. Indoor lighting sucks.

Actually, I use the flash half the time outside as well.

Still looks female to me. Eh. Dont know what to say. Maybe a male with a very underdeveloped comb?

Pics of my younger birds to follow

Thanks we are very confused. Going with something is a fluke and I'm going with the egg... Makes no sense to get fertilized eggs with no other sign of a roo anywhere....

This is Cabba. He's 23 weeks old now. I wish he was darker underneath and didn't have a black head, but other than that he's turning out nice. Good wings. Great toes and foot feathering (feet are wet). No spikes on comb and it's not red. He will be used for future breeding.

Is it true you can sex a PARTRIDGE silkie by looking at the wing feather coloring? Males have red and females are barred? Or is that not accurate?

Thanks!

Can sex by Body color when old enough. I've had barred wing feathers on both male and female on their first feathers. Same for non-barred.

Interesting!! thank you! I figured that it was too good to be true to be able to sex this early. She/he is 9-10wks with beautiful barring on wings. Hoping for a pullet... but only time will tell.

Well lit side body and front comb pictures. Likely IS sexable

I like the black heads. They should breed them as a separate colour. Or do they only occur on the males?
