Silkie thread!

What is the difference between a Silkie, a Cochin, and a brahma? Are there a standard size breed of these? Are they all momma wannabes...is one more inclined to go broody than the other? What kind of layers are they?
They are different breeds. Cochins and brahmas are both bantam and largefowl. Silkies in the US are bantams only.

is it easy to breed single combness out of silkies if its only the hen?
Doesn't matter which parent has it; bred to a bird with a proper walnut comb the offspring should have walnut combs. BUT, it really depends on whether the parent with the walnut comb is pure for both pea and rose comb genes. If not, you could have some single combs and possibly some pea or rose combed offspring. Incorrect combs can pop up periodicaly in the future as well, but if you keep breeding to walnut combed birds, most should be walnut combed.

This is my self-blue (lavender) project pen. I know, it's a small project but can't wait for these girls her to lay and have a boy waiting also. ;)

Really lovely!

I'm confused; the forum hasn't changed that I have noticed.  Not since last January.

For those of using a mobile device, the BYC site opens up with a different home page now. If you look down at the bottom of the page, you can select desktop view and it will be the same format as what we have been used to.
