I am in Sabine Pass, TX. Don't know how far that is from you. Just looked you are about 6 hours away from me.

The coon we killed " owned " our property you know it was his territory. He always scared or probably ate all other coons or opossums that came. Ever since we killed it no ducks, geese, chickens or muscovies have been hurt! So happy! Sadly, one of our original chickens has to live with one wing, but as long as she's alive!
One more thing. Theres still a tiny peice of bone sticking out of the one that lost her wing, but the bones so short you can't see it under her fluff. There's nothing I can do can I? I know I'm not pulling out! * shiver* poor thing! I think the coon had broke the bone down at the joint almost.

How horrible to have this happen! Personally, I would be concerned about sepsis or bone infection with this serious injury. Can you call your local vet or your state vet for advice? An antibiotic might be needed...and stitches to close up the wound may be warranted. I wish you the best for this bird's recovery.

I need some advice.
I have a hen who is not coming out of the coop. All she does is sit up on her little perch. She very very rarely comes out to eat and she's lost weight. If I bring her out of the coop and throw food out on the ground, she'll eat. But then she goes back in her house. I'm starting to get concerned about this hen. And of course it has to be one of my favorites that's not doing well. Isn't that how it works?

Could it be the cold weather? I live in Connecticut and we've had some pretty cold days. I'm hoping that's all it is and nothing else. I started turning the heat lamp on in the coop at night. They get closed in so it should be warmer for all the silkies.

I'm almost thinking it might be a good idea to bring her indoors and make sure she stays warm?

My Silkies do this pretty much all the time. Especially my bigger crested girls. If they're not eating or drinking, they go back into their house and lay down, pretty much all day.

My girl has never done this before. And none of the other chickens do it, except for bedtime.
Should I be worried or just let her be?

I think the little Paint may not be able to see out of it's right eye. Doesn't seem to react to movement on that side. Also sleeps more and is less active than the other 3. Should I get some chick vitamins stuff at the feed store?

One of my 3 month old cockerals(already crowing lol) with the nicest 'fluff'. Does he have vulture hocks? I thought his knee fluff looks kind of long. If he is, is he unusable for breeding? He's just so pretty.

My "new" roo does the same thing, but I think mine stay in there because he doesn't see c...p lol

my new silkie peep hatched yesterday!! she is most likely the second cutest chick i have ever laid my eyes on

(the first one was her pal and ameracauna, who has the BIGGEST beard i have ever seen lol!)
