I think the little Paint may not be able to see out of it's right eye. Doesn't seem to react to movement on that side. Also sleeps more and is less active than the other 3. Should I get some chick vitamins stuff at the feed store?
I officially have 2 crowing. eeek! and they're constantly chest bumping each other. I have 5 silkies altogether. 1 I know is a hen bc she lays. and 1 is about 20 weeks but I don't know if it is male or female, and the other is about 3 mos old. I should get rid of 1 rooster right? should I know by now if the 20 weeker is a male or female by now?
At what point do the roosters start mounting the females??? I haven't seen that happen yet and I do have a female. Not like I want to see it hahahaha. but still.
I haven't been on BYC for a while, so I've spent the last few days catching up on this thread. Everyone has some really beautiful birds- wow! My own Silkies are filling out nicely, I think. They're somewhere around 8 months old now, and they've given no signs that they're going to lay anytime soon. My rooster did let out an impressive first crow the other day, but not a peep since. Here's a few pictures of my little flock
My roo, he doesn't have a name yet. I'm open to suggestions...

And, one more of Tina, just because she's so pretty!

I thought of that too so I trimmed the feathers around her eyes yesterday but she still insists on roosting all day long. Today I brought her outside with the rest of the flock when I let them out of their pen to come scratch around. She joined the fun and ate some food so that's good. I guess I better just make sure she eats and let her be. I don't see anything wrong with her unless I'm missing something? Maybe she's hibernating?
At exactly 21 days to the hour a Silkie egg just pipped in the hatcher!
These are the White Silkie eggs I purchased from Sheryl Butler through K Hunter at the Washington Feather Fancier show in Chehalis last month! My Grandson is coming to the island for the weekend tonight with family. He is 2 1/2 years old. He will get to see and meet his first baby chicks EVER. If he names them, I will be over the moon delighted.
Well, Marge Best is just awesome. I went to get a replacement for the chick we lost last night, and she gave me two. A Dark Partridge and a very Dark Blue. So now we have 5 Silkie chicks. Yay
