I have a newly hatched silkie that I hatched in an incubator and the poor little thing can't seem to get it's feet under it to stand. So therefore it is not eating or drinking it hatched 4 days ago. I have been holding it to the water dish and it will drink a little. Any help on why it can't seem to get on it's feet or what I need to do would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this problem and corrected it by using this method http://www.poultryhelp.com/spraddle.html It would have been best to have done it earlier but I would still give it a try. usually they will be able to walk very quickly and able to get to their food and water after getting them taped up and you need to leave it for several days. No, grey is not a project colour. It has been recognized since 1996.

Blue and grey are entirely differently both genetically and in appearance. Greys can be quite light or pretty dark. Same with blues. However, they don't look alike. Blues are pretty solid in colouring, with darker head, hackles (and saddle in males). Greys have patterned feathers. If you took a photo of a partridge and changed it to black and white, that is what a grey would look like.

Thanks so much. I just taped it with a band aid I sure hope it works because it is not wanting to eat. I have gotten it to drink some water but the poor little baby acts like it is so weak

Don't you love it when someone you have only known through a facebook group, you have never met, you haven't even had long conversations with, see's that you haven't been on in a while and sends you a message because they are worried about you and then when I didn't respond right away took the time to call me? Is it able to stand at all taped ?? you might try a drop of Poly-V-Sol (minus iron) and boiling egg mixed with the chick food moistened, pretty wet, and just get it to take even a tiny bit do this very often until it is stronger ( like every half hour)

I think I understand. He has a lot of white on him. As opposed to Mama Hen Chris'. Mine isn't as evenly grey throughout like hers.

Splash actually has a blue base color with the darker spots and the darker feathers arent colored to the base of the feather. If you have a white with black spots and the dark feathers are colored to the base they are paints.
