Simply adorable Mumsy! Haven't seen you over in the Road Less Traveled lately!
How's things? Your grey silkies? Are they doing well?

Gotta say. My silkies aren't the brightest things. I built a feeder way back in the coop. All the other birds found it no problem, but the silkies were starving themselves and did not find it since Thursday. Crazy things.. I have to have a separate feeder outside, because they like to spend most of their time up against the barn.

Only silkies that eat out of it, are Janet's three babies. She is STILL mothering them, and they are 3 months old!

Doesn't she look tired? LOL Being a single mother is tough!

Hi back at ya! I love your pictures. Your birds are gorgeous. I've been well thank you for asking. House full of company and new chicks to care for plus eggs still in the bator. I have very little spare time to keep up on many threads. Selectively searching out various information when I'm around. The Silkie babies are a delicious diversion from real life.

It can happen, especially if the hen wants nothing to do with that rooster. However, in my experience, it is more likely to be the hen attacking the roo.
that is super funny! It was the 2 known roos though that were going after the 2 unknowns. Who knows. Maybe they're all roos, I guess time will tell LOL

Hey do you guys think if I let my broody silkie hatch some more silkies that my russian orloff rooster will be ok with that? I just added him and a bantam easter egger to my flock of two silkies and two plymouth rocks. So far he's been really cool with my two existing silkies, the roo was just about 10 weeks old when I put him in, he was still a chick himself. Are roosters usually ok with chicks that are hatched and raised in the coop? So far it seems like the rest of the chickens are more accepting of chicks that are hatched in the coop than they are of bringing new ones in, but this is my first rooster (hopefully my last, he was a surprise).

How many more eggs in the incubator, and are they all silkies? You went from one rooster, to many birds in what seems like a day! :p
