Silkie thread!

Oooooh! I just set up a swap with a lady and am getting a breeding pair of black silkies! I currently have a black roo and white hen. Now I will have 2 pairs! How awesome?
Congratulations on getting more Silkies! They are the funnest birds.

You can match them however you like but I would say you have a trio of Blacks and an odd white if you are going to breed for showing/selling. Usually white is not included in Black breeding pens because of the off colors they can throw - and because the children would then throw White in future breedings.

Have you already hatched any from your Black x White "Pair" and what colors did you get? l am always curious to see what is hiding under those whites.

Yes, it's a polish. a paint.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a paint variety for Polish chickens?

If they are all boys, you can send one my way

I've gotten mostly pullets (which most would not complain about) but I need a nice rooster, dang it

I'm probably going to have to send some of them somewhere if they're all boys.

Unless I can convince the farm owner to let me rehome this ugly looking PQ splash rooster we have to make room. He just looks like he got hit by a truck and never recovered.

Ok, maybe he doesn't look that bad, but he's still not very pretty. lol

Eggs should hatch the 21'st. I candled last night and the silkies look more developed than the others (probably because I can actually see in the egg) so maybe the 20th. I will definately update when they hatch! I love my white hen because her earlobes are so striking against the ehite feathers. And these silkies are the most hillarious chickens I have ever seen! My black roo was ticked when I took Sally out of the pen so I brought him an austrolorp hen and an EE. This guy started doing the chicken dance and mt austrolorp was looking at him like , "what the crap?" My EE immediatley allowed him to mount her but he had to work for the aussie! I figure we won't hatch those, but it was funny to watch him chase the big girls!
