It was probably a partridge.

The bird is not a cross, or at least not a first generation cross--note that it has silkie feathers, and you cannot get them in a first generation cross.

Another question I have concerns the red roo I have. I don't plan to keep him any longer than to produce some chicks for pets and sell at the farmer's market this fall. He doesn't have a beard.
But...is he really red or a reddish partridge? How can I tell???

Sooo.... is cedar wood oil toxic to chickens? I just realized the fle and tick shampoo and spray I use has it in it, only .20% though...
