Brie - so sorry she didn't make it. You did a great job caring for her.She passed away a few minutes ago. Near the end I just tried to get her to drink the drips off my finger but she wouldn't. She is in chick heaven now.
Keeping you both in my thoughts and hoping she has a full recovery.Mine is still here, but unhappy. I have given her another drop or two of poultry drench - hopefully it starts drinking and eating on its own soon. It seems more active today - so I hope its getting better.
Isn't 18 weeks a bit young for a Silkie to lay eggs?Yes, those are Silkie eggs. The first one sure looked darker. congratulations!
Thank y'all soo much for your advice and sympathy I really appreciate it more than yall know. She is about to dye any second and I am in the other room for now while my hubby waits until it is certain. Not sure if I will get another. I've had soo many turn out to be roosters after getting attached and two die. I might just keep the three healthy big ones I have a move on with taking care of them. I REALLY wanted a silkie though.. But I don't know of anyone that will sell me just one silkie![]()
The worst part is knowing there is nothing more I can do, but I guess I should be thankful that I have other healthy chicks.
I am crossing my fingers that yours gets better too! Thank you again!
Sorry for your loss. Thanks everyone idk what to do I told the lady I bought her from and she says she has more that are around a week old... I want another one so bad. I might go get one today.
The only reason being that I don't want to wait around trying to find an older one and then introducing just one bird into my current flock.
ChickNMamma: I hope she gets better! Hopefully she will come around if she already more active than yesterday! Saying a prayer for her. Keep me updated
ThanksOMG he's so cute!
my dream job lol
What is that behind him?

Sorry for your loss.
Have you tried Craigslist? Sometimes you can find older birds there, old enough to tell gender. Then you'll know you won't end up with a rooster. Even if you waited a while, adding a new bird to a flock isn't that big of a deal. Especially if they're young. I've never had any trouble with my Silkies.
