Is he a dark partridge? Or is the hackles considered leakage? Very pretty! I have a chick starting to look like him seeing some gold starting up in the black, but I thought it was looking like a girl but to young to tell.

He started out black so I guess it would be considered leakage .

They are so fun, I just love mine too. Their more like having puppy's instead of chickens.

I sent my first Silkie hatching eggs yesterday. I heard they got there today no cracks, air cells fully intact! So excited to see what hatches from the lady they went to. I'm just glad my first shipment was 100% okay.

Congrats! I would be sooooo nervous, sending eggs. I might next year.

Just had a baby silkie born with a vaulted skull, and its only been a couple hours since it hatched, but it seems to be having a hard time keeping its little head up? Is this normal?

They are a little loopy acting for a while.

Yep, what Jharper said. My new chicks acted drunk for a while after they hatched, but were soon up running around.
