The 5th egg hatched finally!!!!! Whoo Hoo!! Man I hate worrying like that. So I candled the sixth to see if it had internally pipped yet, no go. It was all dark as it should be, but I couldn't tell if it was moving or not. If it was it was slight. It looked a lot like this, but fuller. I could still see a lighter edge near the air cell, and shape of baby at edge. Should there be much movement at day 22? By the way if I was using an incubator I would not have candled at day 22, but they are under a broody. This is the sixth egg... Is this a normal candle (sans movement)

Looks normal to me. Try the water test? If the egg floats its alive and let her sit still. Sinks to bottom, most likely the chick gave up. And look for movement ripples from the egg. I vote let her sit on it for another day. Then try test.

Isn't it bad to put the egg in water? Humidity wise?

Does anybody have any silkie (chicks) for sale? I am in search of lavender, porcelain, splash, blue, and pretty much any oddly colored silkie. I love the silkies on the "Silkies of a different color thread" and yet I am having trouble finding any silkies (young or old) that are any color but black or white. My goal is to have a variety of colors, but as of now I am having trouble finding any for sale. If anyone has any that they would be willing to sell/ship, that would be great, or knows where I can find some. Thanks.

There are breeders every were, in every country. Thats the good thing about Silkies. Maybe there is someone closer then you think, where are you located?

Is your silkie trying to have a normal chicken foot by cutting off its extra toe with that steak knife?

Actually i was cutting up some grapes for him with the knife. But thats pretty funny, Never really looked at what he was standing on.

I don't know where you're located, but I have buff cockerels free to good home (hatched out way to many this spring)

I have some blues and partridge silkie chicks right now . Next month I will have some porcelain and hopefully lavenders . I live in Gordonsville Va. It will be a month at least before I have splash ,paint, buff ,blacks ,reds , or whites . Most of what I have now I am growing out .You can PM me if interested .
