Has anyone tried hatching rounder looking eggs to see if they will be hens? I know a lot of people think this is a myth just wondering if anyone has put it to the test?

The thought has crossed my mind, perhaps we should do a test hatch. I have 1 Wyandotte that always lays eggs without a point end. Makes it a little confusing when trying to store them pointy end down. :/

Hey so I had a question but don't know where to post it and this is my most active thread so i thought id pos it here if there is somewhere else i should post it direct me there please

So we are kinda new to chicken raising and we have had some for about 6 month (will be laying any day ! ) and those three are veryy friendly and will run up to you even hop on my should and arms sometimes ! But we recently got some new chickens who were already 7 months old and are very skittish and afraid of us. Im sure some of it is just being in the new place but i want to do everything i can to make them calm and just as friendly as the first bunch. So im really asking for suggestions as to how to make them more and more friendly ? And i was wondering do your chickens keep getting friendlier the longer and longer you have them ? Any suggestions are appreciated thanks

Food, food, mealworms, scratch, treats, and more food!!!!! The way to a chickens heart is they it's stomach!!!! Well crop I guess!!!! That and just spend time in the area w them!!!

Flock politics can be a bit tricky . I take a pot of cooked pasta over to the run and sit with them. Once they know that you bring treats they will be all over you , like a rash. Staying low to the ground makes you far less intimidating . This works for all my breeds.

Yes i love giving them mealworms and we put watermelon rines out and such but i think a bowl lf treats or something sounds like a great idea ! Only problem is these new chickens im guessing have never even had mealworms or any other treats for that matter and wont even eat them from me yet hahahaha but i had two other chickens introduced to my flock and had the same problem but they eventually warmed up to me and the mealworms ill keep trying to give them treats, that is if the others dont eat them all too fast hahaha

I would go with your instincts and treat it as wryneck. Thiamine B1 is the main deficiency so you need to get a multi vitamin or some polyvisol infant drops without iron.
Do you have any nutri-drench ?

Ok so I'm pretty sure it's wryneck. I'm going to tractor supply tomorrow to pick up some nutri-drench!! If it isn't wryneck, it won't bother the chick to consume it? And how do I give it to the baby (his/her name is Jed )

Icc =1ml , un diluted in the beak for every 3 lb, so a couple of drops for the chick. If you have them on medicated feed change the ones suffering to un medicated crumble. Hope we can get little Jed straightened out.
