Silkie thread!

Here's to wishful thinking... Can hens have streamers?
My Splash who I'm praying is a hen developed streamers on his/her head.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if someone could possibly help me try to tell the sea of my two little silkie chicks? I bought them both unseeded and they are 11 weeks old. I love them both so much already and we have only had them for a month but I think one of them is a roo :( we can't keep any roo's where we live so I will be devastated if you have to give one away! Anyway I will attach some pictures below. Any help would be very much appreciated!

These first few pictures are of the baby that I think may be a roo?

They are so cute together! The one at the front is the one in the first pictures.

This sweet little one is quite a bit smaller in her (?) frame and her face looks more feminine I think :)

White silkies seem to be the hardest to sex. You're unlikely to get a definitive answer, just be aware. That said, the one you suspect of roostery looks like a pullet to me. I don't see streamers and the comb still looks pretty small with no red. Silkie pullets generally have bigger, fuller crests than the cockerels so you might be in lick there. Your other one looks pretty Henning too.

All that said, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

Question. .

I completely forgot what day I put eggs in bator. I wrote it down but the paper was misplaced. Have no idea. The embryo isn't very old. You can see its big eyeball and moving. No features to tell but you know it's the eye.

I'm not good at measuring but the embryo may be around half inch.

I do t k ow when to stop turning ahhh

Thank you for your reply foxholefarm, I really would love for them both to be hens but I suppose that is the lotto with buying undexed! It's so hard to wait!

T minus two days until hatch day and I'm soooooo impatient!

I haven't hatched chicks for 4 months and I have the baby chicken itch really badly.

6 paints all wiggling as of candling yesterday!!!!! They are my first shipped eggs under my broody. Two never developed but the other 6 are doing great. Saddle cells healed themselves even. :) It's hard not to look every 5 minutes.

I know how you feel. One of my three beautiful silkies turned out to be male, and I had to give him away. Fortunately my breeder is also a good friend, and he took the top back without any problems and will even be keeping him as a breeder because he turned out so handsome.

I ended up with a rooster that I didnt want to get rid of so every morning before the sun comes up i got out and get him and bring him inside. he has a dog crate with his food and water and seems to be quite happy spending the mornings inside. Tonight he is staying in the entire night because i dont want to get up early. he crows inside and the neighbors dont hear him. it works for us. you could also make him a "sound proof" coop.

I am wondering what kind of chicken you have on your profile picture? Is it a Mille coloring? it is really pretty.
