Silkie thread!

My two silkie pullets laid their first eggs today. BOTH girls laid the first egg on the same day! How weird is that?

My Silkie roos do just fine with my other roos. I wouldn't give up on Percy. My Silkies free range in the same yard as the LF Ameracauna Roos with no problem.

I will try it. Percy and Pollie are still inside so it will be awhile. My run is pretty small. Adequate room but not sure about 2 roosters. Family vote says Obie will go to a friends house and Percy and Pollie will stay

Have any of you ever successfully hatched eggs with detached cells under a broody? I have 2 under my hen developing normally but the air cells are loose. I hate to watch them develop only to not be able to hatch later.

I have had little or NO success with deattachables but I have had success with Loose air cells.

What breed is Obie? Putting a young roo in with a adult is easier in my opinion than putting two adults in together.

This girl is beginning to recover from a rather harsh molt. She normally has a big bonnet crest but the whole back of her head now is still mostly bald with new pin feathers now finally coming in! From the front, she doesn't look too bad, but from the back, she still looks rather sad. She's still her spunky self, however, and seems to be oblivious to her rather lopsided 'do.
What exactly is a harsh molt? i know they replace their feathers, but is there more to it than that?

@heather7 Lots of handling and treats they'll come around. Mine are handled every day, they still chatter a bit about it but they do come up to me, especially if I have shelled sunflower seeds in hand. Cute birds!
what other treats are good for silkies?

How high are your nestboxes? Maybe they don't like the hight of them
there is a certain spec for boxes? do you happen to have a sight or more info on coop specs for silkies?
