Silkie thread!

How old are your silkies that are crowing and are they doing it on a regular basis? Just wondering, here I have two birds that are going to be 5 months old on 12/4 one looks and acts like a rooster, thought I heard him crow once a couple of months ago looking for his hatch mate and that was it. Cute birds by the way!

My silkies are 5 months. I have three hens and one rooster. My rooster started crowing at 3-4 months and two of my hens just started laying eggs. My rooster now crows on a regular bases, but when he first started crowing it was very garbled and scratchy sounding and he didn't crow as often. If you want to figure out whether you have a rooster or hen post a picture on silkie sexing thread. They will tell you based on the appearance of the silkie. The people on the thread are usually pretty good at identifying gender.

Should all silkies have blue ears? I have 2 Roos with white ears. Pure or not?

mine is 10 weeks old they just started crowing this past week. he crows in the morning not very long just for a few minutes. But it is funny it sounds like a very bad trumpet player lol

Well we are finally naming these guys the Roo is Thor and the white hen is Sweet Pea, and the dark hen is Sally
