Silkie thread!

Beautiful sunny day in the barnyard so the hen pen gets the day off. I have a young white male, a paint, and a blue in this pen. The eggs are for the house not for hatching.

This is the little blue hen that's been in my Lav pen A. She is getting the rest of the season off. I've hatched ten babies by her and my Lav roo and another dozen are in the bator. She didn't go broody so I put her out to grass. She's a happy girl. These are her first babies.

Thank you Silkiecuddles!

Breeding season is in full swing, and today was a chance for getting pens outside and into the sunshine.

I gave the Partridge pen a chance in the sunshine today as well. Everybody's happy.

.
Fuzzbucket my foundation Partridge, Red Barney, and "Pup Down". He is Paint x white recessive. Partridge genes hooked up. He is stunning and I have five little chicks sired by him this year. He will be a year old next month.

My friends toddler can't say touch down during football games and says "Pup down" instead. I thought that was a cute name for a rooster. So my partridge guy is known as "Mr. Pup Down". His first babies are awesome!

The partridge chicks were expected. The lavender/buff chicks were not. They are beautiful dilutes. My Paint roo passes a lav gene. Mr. Pup Down passes it on.

An avian vet will know more but any vet is better than no vet. Hopefully they will do their research before you get there.
Chickens don't like being turned on their back and being held upside down for any length of time can be fatal.
If you must inspect the feet , sit yourself down and lay her on your knees, wrapped in a towel. Good luck at the vet.

Done for $86 yesterday very cheap compare to the bird vet want $200+
We love our franklin money can buy an other chicken but not the same as cute as her for sure

And I think the vet done some homework and get her fix they do have all the tool it take and two girls help to hold her on table was their for about an hour not very busy vet but they are very very good I think!

Now I have to lock her in the bath bath... Medication on drinking water 1 L water mix with it... She look a bit sad can't see her friends unless I take her down for a walk
I try stop her digger the dirt play in wet ground she don't like that...
Four more day for medication then she can go back with other...

Hope her feet getting batter soon
Thanks for everyone helping!!!!

Hello everyone I am a first time chicken and duck owner, got a bundle from tsc chick days, we now have 6 cute little fuzz ball silkies they were in with the bantams. Are there different sizes like standard and bantam? We lucked up and got 1 blue, tried checking each week for more that color but no luck,2 black and grey, they were so young they still had their egg tooth, 2 yellow I'm guessing will just be white, and 1 partridge I think since its a bright brown with darker brown places. Hopefully will have 1 roo to 5 hens but will keep them all regardless

I got them a little tykes play house to be there house and will fence in an area for there yard. Hopefully will be breeding them once they're older. We also wound up with 2 mystery chicks they have 5 toes just like the silkies but light skin and cute puffy cheeks. So far the last silkies and these 2 mysteries are my friendliest. Besides one unknown black bantam that looks like a tiny crow, it has a different comb its just a flat black spot, it hops on my hand to be held I've actually considered keeping this one inside. I think all my silkies are bearded they have puffy cheeks. I'm thinking about doing some silkie crosses to keep in my flock. I've really enjoyed having these chicks. I actually used to be terrified of chickens especially bantams my brothers rooster used to flog me but I've handled mine daily in hopes of having friendly birds. It amazes me how fast you can tell bantam roosters I have 1 approximately 4 weeks old and he's all roo

his comb stands straight up already turning red holds his tiny tail high and proud and struts his stuff. He's actually pretty friendly to me but does chase his cage mates a bit. We adopted an older bantam pair and our roo crows all the time I wonder when he ever sleeps. We have coyotes and possums in our area I want to build a good secure area so I don't lose them I've become attached to everyone. We've got a pretty big flock I guess I went over board. I did lose 2 bantams

but our numbers are 2 bared rocks 2 buff orpingtons 1 austrelorp 2 unknown black, 6 unknown golden chicks, they didn't even know at tsc, 1 unknown rooster he was in with the buff orpingtons but is a darker gold with hints of black. 1 white cochin, 6 silkies, 1 porcelain D'Uccle 3 black unknown bantams, 1 grey bantam 2 yellow chicks 1 has green legs 2 mystery 5 toes bantams and 5 ducklings

I adore my ducklings they're super friendly they will even climb on my lap 2 runners 2 Rouen and 1 large boy he started off black and yellow and he's now getting a blue sheen he is beautiful. 37 new additions to my family

and I'm getting a few EE pullets in a couple weeks. Does anyone think an ee silkie mix would be pretty?

I really love the splash colors in silkies, is there a method to getting this color? Like crossing a color with a white or do you have to have a splash to get splash chicks

Well done ! Sounds like your vet did their homework . It is very important to keep her in a clean environment whilst she heals. Be sure to pick up her poops regular while she is in confinement . The antibiotics in the water will help to knock out infection. I wish you and Franklin the best. :)
Don't forget to take pics of the healing process. Someone else may find them helpful.
