Silkie thread!

@Fancychooklady and @MuscovyMadness thank you for your tips. I will have my husband build something for them.

Isn't it great to having a husband who can build things for us!? I really am so blessed to have a man who can build pretty much anything I ask and is creative as well. Plus he lets me have my fancy breeds (Polish Silkies Showgirls) when all he originally wanted were dual-purpose breeds for meat eggs. :)

Hate when I hit submit before checking.......lol

When you get into breeding silkies for showing, you will notice a definite difference in feather quality.  The ones bred for show ring have a density to their feathers that you won't get on hatchery stock.  Its hard to describe unless you get your hands on them.  Its almost like there is twice as many feathers jammed packed in the space and they are so long and silky in comparison.  I know when getting mine ready for shows, I have to take a comb through since they almost have a double coat like some dogs.
The difference really is crazy. I have some Bobbi Porto ( :yiipchick) silkies growing right now, and they're so much fluffier than hatchery stock :love

Beautiful!!

I have 12 silkies in a 30x40 pole barn (used to have horses). I have a few bales of straw that they like to roost on. I get new ones for them every spring.
