Silkie thread!

Still no pips visible from the incubator window. I had to get the back part of the shell from the cuckoo chick...no clue how it managed to have a piece of membrane stuck still ??? It was completely dried up, but it was still dragging its shell around with it lol. He's really huge compared to even my week old Serama chick...

Anyway, I know I shouldn't have but I listened to the other four eggs....I can hear cheeping in two of them and water tested the silent ones....so far, everyone who didn't candle clear is still with us, just clearly not ready to come see us yet. I should have a partridge, two buffs and another cuckoo.

I thought that's what they made Dyson vacumns for

; our home would not be habitable without it.

I can't tolerate not having the "peep peep peep" of

in the house, so I keep them inside even if they're feathered out.....until the next batch comes out of the bator. Thank God I have a wonderful, tolerant husband

It's so much more work to keep them inside longer than you just have to. I have a hard time keeping up with all the brooders when they all get full. I just can't stand the smell and clean them everyday and sometimes twice a day. I'm working on getting rid of 19 Bob White chicks. I don't want to wait around for them to grow up and I certainly don't want to clean up after them for the next 3 months. I want to get down to just the breeders for the winter. The only ones i'm hatching out are the silkie eggs and thats it. The EE's stopped laying already. I have some project birds but I still have yet to get a fertile egg. I switched roos so maybe that will work

I do get empty nest syndrome without them! I guess that is why I am hatching all winter LOL! And I agree with Bat Cave Silkies a Dyson is a MUST! I have the dyson ball - the animal hair one with a hepa air filter and the handheld animal dyson! They are AMAZING! SOOOOO worth the $$$ especially if ypu have chick, dogs, and cats in the house!

sometimes Big Lots has reconditioned Dysons for about half the price that is where we got ours. It is fabulous. I've got 25 silkies in the basement right now from 6 weeks to 2 days old. I have to move some out but they are so freaking cute

I have a Kirby, and it's great except for all the movable parts just to go from the regular base to the hose attachment. But it does a darn good job on carpet.

Update: I now have a partridge chick (or so said the egg lol) in the incubator, soaking wet and chirping it's head off. I don't see any other pips, but technically day 21 started at like six pm, so I am *trying* not to stress out. I have finals to study for after all. xD

I'll try to get some pics from hubby's phone after the hatch is complete. I also hatched some coturnix at the same time, and they look like little gnats hopping around their silkie brother.

Welcome to the hatching club! I'm with ya!

Update from the ohio national. Have birds checked, bought for my petsister what she requested. Have finally come face to face with Brenda & Deb. Lots of Self-Blues here. TONS of silkies, row after row of fluff. Finally found my sale cages, which took FOREVER!!!! Had dinner with some great silkie breeders. Now of to bed for some rest before tomorrow!

I'm currently deciding whether I'm going to go to the Nationals.

I want to go, I said I'd go, but I have a big final on Monday in a class I'm not doing stellar at, it's a 4 hour drive and hubby can't come as he's military and he's stuck with duty this weekend....I can say that if I go and get a hotel room (which is more money) I will be able to study, or I could stay home and try to find a corner at the library somewhere and hope people aren't too rowdy. I really wanted a frizzle girlfriend for my blue serama cockerel!!
Well, at least I have some babies hatching...now to wrestle with my decision.
