Man Alive I miss green grass! I'm gonna post a picture of my temporary silkie coop setup/ portable pen and you'll see how well grass fares in the desert. We even have a sprinkler system and I'm pretty sure it's Dead as a doornail after less than a year

Btw I built this pen all by myself I'm pretty proud because I'm not handy at all! The wind was up to 45 mph all day here and it didn't budge yay!

Colie <3 - Did you win the Silkie Auction you're bidding on? I never went back to see if you had won it or not.

For the 12 white eggs? Nooo I got outbid in the last 5 seconds I guess. I was majorly bummed out

I emailed the seller to see if they would be listing another auction or if they would be willing to sell additional eggs but no response. I'm thinking my email might have ended up in their spam mailbox, I'm contemplating sending them a PM instead but I don't wanna be a bother...​

Ugh - that stinks!

Ok here are my fuzzy butts at 7.5 weeks old. I think they are looking pretty good for being so young. They change so fast! Constructive advice on their looks from the problem spots I point out is appreciated!!
Dolce cockerel (he's my favorite boy, such a nice disposition) Willow in the back ground of first picture.




Spree Cockerel (he's kind of a jerk, him and I have had plenty of talks about his attitude!)



Willow Pullet (docile, quiet PERFECT lap silkie <3 )

Prima Pullet I think but has weird mannerisms about her that make me wonder (She's a sweetie pie though very inquisitive always the first to greet me) Bear in the background he's wearing a soft muzzle because he wouldn't stop barking at me while I was in the pen. Guess he felt left out! Big baby!



Prima's foot. It looked like a double toenail but as she is getting older I'm afraid this is an extra toe that is totally fused with her 4th toe. Now I'm not sure what to do with her. I have friends that would love a sweet pullet or two but I don't want to give her away. Booo

Vera I think a pullet but really don't know! (very easily handled, starting to act a little standoffish and fighting with the boys which made me start thinking she might be a he)

This is Vera's wing that is worrying me. She is still young but I see a split there... Two pics of it


Tex, Cricket and Prima Cricket loves the chickens they seem to follow her it's really cute.

Just waiting on my coops that I ordered to show up and we'll be all set. Then I can use this just for a pen for extra running around space. For now the chicks are sleeping in a plastic box with pine shavings. They don't mind but my two ameraucanas are pretty peeved they don't have anywhere to roost!

My hands are cut up and my joints are killing me. I built it in 8 hours I should have spaced it out more but the babies were demanding more room!

Me too, I'd love some nice whites. Spree looks funny all on his lonesome he needs some white silkies buddies

Colie i love your whites so pretty i have 5 whites and splash 3 days old right now and a pair of buffs im hopeing i win this 12 eggs auctions for more whites silkies dont count as chickens right?

Colie, that is a nice pen! I lived in El Paso for 2.5 years......I COMPLETELY understand about grass and things blowing away!!! Your birds are VERY nice, especially at such a young age! I wouldn't worry too much about that double toenail at all.
