I think I know what you are talking about. When they grow new feathers, they get this clear tube thing that are called pin feathers. You can see a few pin feathers in the crest of this bird. My birds are molting now to and one of them has pin feathers all over their back.

Thank you! That is what I am seeing! I was worried there was a problem!

That is awsome if she would get fluffier! She didn't come here looking like much. woops, I don't know what I am doing yet... Can I add a question? Do they molt from stress too? Since they are new to our home and I have five children who are old enough to hold them....well they have been handled alot! They seem like they weren't handled much before, because you have to chase them down.

Nice videos. Connor is confident and doing a good job of showig off his birds. The bird in the first video is partridge, although I am not convinced that it is female. I cannot really tell from the way he is holding it, but I don't see as much penciling as a partridge female should have.

A couple of things that Connor is a bit incorrect on. The turquoise blue on the side of the head are the earlobes, not muffs. Muffs are in actually a part of the beard, extending up onto the side of the face. Also, both bearded and non-bearded silkie varieties are recognised. Bearded silkies have muffs; non-bearded do not. With the exception of self-blue, all recognised varieties are recognised in both bearded and non-bearded. If exhibiting, he will need to list whether the bird is bearded or non-bearded. Good luck!
