Silkie thread!

OMG! You guys are describing me to a tee! Three wet limp peepers early this AM!

Now they are bumbling around.

Most all the rest are either pipped or rocking! Looks like it will be a good hatch!

I'll post pics tomorrow. I bought from a breeder on ebay. 20 eggs to start. One clear, the rest grew. One turned into a blood ring. 18 doing fine at lock down. I'm so thankful things went so well on my first shipped in eggs after the horror stories I've read

I am in California and my eggs came from Kentucky. Really amazing when you think about it!

Ha! Sound like the gal I got my Silkie eggs from. You will love these chicks!!! I had paid for 8, she sent me 20, one was clear, two quitters, so 17 went into lockdown, and 14 hatched! Mine are 6 1/2 weeks old now, and they are beautiful!!! Here is "DK" as of last week, one of my 7 Partridges.

Need a little stress in your life do you?

Sorry, I think I'm losing it! When that first little fuzzy butt slips out of the egg, my face will split from ear to ear! What a miracle! I was just telling my daughter (who's broody is on the same schedule as my bator) that it is such an incredible miracle that I watched these little guys (from day three when I first candled) grow into a tiny being that has all the same parts as me - legs, heart, eyes, "hair", mouth, ears, voice, etc., and they hit the ground running in 21 days ready to find their own food and drink. Now I'm crying... Oh boy, it's going to be a long night...

Well, look on the bright side. You have an incubator to press your nose up against. Better that than the broody, heh??
gig.gif
I know just what you mean, been there, done that, and now you are making me want to do it again!!

Your eyes get crossed, you dart the flashlight from egg to egg, knowing you saw something out of the corner of your eye! You try to breath very quietly so you can hear the interior pips, but then your nose whistles, and you have to start all over again! Sound familiar?? This is a serious disease for sure!

Soooo, any babies yet?????

My husband thought I was nuts to take on the stress.

Pretty soon he's got the flash light in his hand (several times)

He'll be hooked! He's already designing a homemade bator with good visability!

I never bought a incubator but I had made my own & I had 100% hatch. Done alot of reading watching videos on youtube and now I am making a fridgebator.

HAHAHA!!! I'm setting 5 1/2 dozen today lol ohhh boy! I also have a broody sitting on 8 eggs, my first broody! My last hatch failed
sad.png
I had a bunch make it to right before lockdown then I went out of town and left my mother in law instructions on how to up the humidity and yadda yadda. Idk what that women did but not one made it out of the shell alive! I came home looking for fuzzy babies and all I had were dried out couldn't hatch eggs
sad.png
Poor little things. Dum Dum DUMMMM!!! The MIL strikes again!

I woke up today wondering how your hatch was going. Glad to hear you had a good start as of this morning. I think you're right it's really pretty darn amazing that you can ship EGGS of all things across the country thru the post office (who is notorious for ruining packages) and then still usually get some to hatch!! I never get 50% to hatch on shipped eggs I'm looking forward to maybe bragging about that one day lol I know that hatching isn't the ideal way of obtaining birds but since it's been so hot here I've just got to be doing something so I've been hatching away all summer whenever I can sneak it past my hubs. BUT guess who's deployed now and can't stop me????
