Silkie thread!

Thanks! I knew he wasn't a Partridge, and I just looked at pictures of Calico's and he looks a lot like them. It's a project color right?

And it seems as though all 4 of my CJ Silkies are boys. I have the greyish one in the photos, a partridge, a blue, and a buff which just crowed for the first time today. I was so hoping the buff was a girl because the blue is for sure a boy, and I'm pretty sure the partridge is too.

I have one black silkie- about five months and currently waiting to see if it is a rooster or a hen! It does make a fluttery long call like noise (very quiet like a chick) so was thinking that is an indicator it is a rooster? It also chirp chirps so not sure

no eggs yet! Do silkie roo's usually have extra skin above their beak or no? Also, if it is a roo, does anyone know if silkies are generally a lot quieter than other chickens, roos?

Right. At what age do they start getting loud? I have two other chickens of a different breed a month older and their loud fine. The silkie is quiet and flutterly sounding.

Don't know what age but they will sure let you know when they do crow. But I've heard silkies arn't as loud s regular feather birds

I had some of my birdies babies hatch today. I have 3 partridge silkies and 2 blue sizzles. My reddest partridge hen laid these and the 2 that don't have vaulted skulls are a buff and white, the one with the vaulted skull has the chipmunk stripes.

I can't wait to see what else I get and how they feather out.
