Silkie thread!

What color is that ? Lavender or splash, can't tell with my screen. Nice btw

This should show the color more accurately. She is in a shadow so it is a tinge dark. I believe it is considered lavender. I keep trying to get money set aside for the silkie colors book but can't seem to make it happen. That price point is just beyond what is within reach reasonably for me. The little one in front is the one who went to the vet and had crop surgery. She's scooting around with a little hole in her tummy and continually bloated but she's doing well.

If thats a good representation of her color, then thats a blue - on the scale I think you'd consider her a Medium blue, light blues are the ones regularly mistakenly called Lavender, they look almost like the crayon Perliwinkle.

I love the medium and light blues, very pretty.

I just asked that question on another thread. Except I specified. Those silkies that the eggs went for 240.00 this weekend. I don't think they get anymore perfect. In my eyes anyway. They certainly where fluffy for sure. I said the only way somebody would get any of those birds from me is if they pried them from my cold dead hands. lol I'm just curious as to their $$$ worth. I can see me making DH build a Fort Knox to keep them in. Electric wire just underground and 1/2 mess for the run. A concrete hen house with locks on the chicken door and the human door. CH/A, running water, septic tank, a fridge with fresh veggies to g with their chicken feet. A tub of meal worms. I think I'm getting carried away.

I'm wanting a nice Silkie, but I have my limit, as far as the price goes. Especially since I'm sure I'll be paying shipping too!
I'm interested in a pullet, but I'll likely get a pair, so up goes the price there too.

Thing is, I'm only wanting them for pets, but I'm trying to "treat myself" and get something with quality...

Where in the Carolina's are you? In the mountains of NC there's Bat Cave Silkies and I'm sure others. Also Racuda, Feather Leg Farm, Peeps with pouf, Gavin and Allison, and I'm SURELY forgetting others!

Its about $100. Chicken Colours, Silkies and Silkie Bantams. I am just a bit leery for that price when I haven't seen it. I don't mind the price if I know I'm getting what I paid for, paper quality and writing quality. I've bought too many $300 textbooks lately that literally fall apart at the seams the second week you own it.

I have the book and LOVE it! It had invaluable info! I HIGHLY recommend it to serious breeders who are wanting to learn about the colors including LOTS of colors we do hot have in the USA yet. It is full of great pictures too. Bren in TX is the only one who has them I think...I will check with her and see if there are any left from the last shipment (they had to be imported which is why the price is so high).

ETA: I have both the Silkie book, and the Genetics book. They are BOTH amazing! I would buy the Serama one too if I still had Seramas
