I just put the clip in when I'm messing with her and for taking pictures.
I'm hoping I can get her use to them though. She's only 3 months old right now.
I got the clips at Wal-Mart from the little girl section today.

but this is the white hens first chicks. my black hen has had 4 batches of chicks shes 5 years old and adopts chicks all of the time.

If she is still brooding eggs, she is not ready for chicks right NOW. It's easier to get a non-broody hen to accept and mother a chick than a broody who is not yet ready. A broody whose eggs are hatching can be another matter, but I'm guessing is that she has timed herself to that last egg. And I'm also guessing that the two hens didn;t start setting at eh same time, but that the black started at least a few days later. They probably swapped eggs back and forth while brooding, too.
