Check the feather shaft, are most black all the way to the skin? That is a paint. But it is also not uncommon for whites to have a black feather or two. That does not mean they are paint.

Yes, paint chicks can have spots increase in size and number as they molt out.

Yes, putting them with the black roo should produce more paints or not. I had one hatch where all chicks were solid in color.

I can't answer the question on the Frizzle gene since I don't deal with it.

All of her black feathers are black all the way to the skin. I've never bred this hen because she was either injured as a chick or is deformed. She is blind and her sinus appears to be gone on the same side she's blind on. She was always the smallest in her group and was eventually ran out of the group. I was thinking of putting a black cockereal with her and hatch out her eggs to see if her chicks have the same issue with the face as she does. I don't want to hatch out deformed chicks on purpose but I would like to find out if it would be passed on to her chicks or if it was an injury. She was always on the bottom of the pile when they piled up to sleep. I'm surprised she survived at all with a pile of 13 other young chickens on top and around her. She will be 2 years old in April. I wuld love to have some paints but not at a price of producing deformities. It's a real dilemma. She's laid eggs but none are fertile. She even sat on her sisters eggs and hatched out and cared for chicks. All in the comfort of her cage in the house.

My other hen that has the black spots is a sizzle (frizzled silkie). I'm sure if I could manage to produce paint sizzles others would want some. I think they would be very pretty as the silkies are.

Thanks for your info. I just have to decide if I want to breed the one to find out if her problem would be passed on. What do you all think or what would you do?
