Silkie thread!

Goal? Clean, use any shampoo. Get rid of mites/lice? Use a dog/cat flea/tick shampoo according to directions. Preferably one with an insect growth regulator. I prefer Sergeant's Gold. Get rid of stains on a white/light coloured bird? Use Tide or All with bleach alternative.

I've read you can use the stain remover "Shout" to get stains out of the lighter colored birds. I haven't tried it. I seem to always be out of it when I need it for a bird. I will try it one day. I've also read to use the whitening shampoo for dogs. I use baby shampoo or dawn dish liquid. Thats what I use for my dogs. The dawn kills fleas on contact so I figure if the birds have any bugs it will kill them too.

I don't use the dawn on their heads, I use the baby shampoo since it don't hurt their eyes.

Do any of you silkie lovers use diapers?
My porcelin silkie was injured 2 weeks ago. We have splinted her leg and shes living inside getting spoiled rotten. We are falling in love with her personality and all her little noises. She gets handled quite a bit and a little diaper would be great!

There is somebody that makes them and sells them in the "Everything Else" for sale section here on BYC. I would look there first. I don't think they cost very much

Thanks Debbie.
You bet, I enjoy them heaps. The rooster is a big sook. He spends alot of time with us indoors LOL. I love him to bits. He will fall asleep in your lap.
My daughters all enjoy having him asleep on their laps.

As long as his feet are ok & they wont cause him any pain then all is OK.
