Is there a diffrence between self blue and lavender also is there a diffrence between grey and lavender silkies

Yes--sort of. "Self-blue" refers to the variety name, and indicates a solidly coloured (self) pale blue bird. Note that the "blue," as with many animals is not like the blue in a set of crayons or on a fancy race car, but is a greyish colouring. Lavender is the name of the recessive gene that causes self-blue colouring. It is an unusual dilution gene in that it dilutes both pigment colours present in chicken feathers: black pigment and red pigment. However, "lavender" is also used to refer to the variety or appearance. Different breeds and especially different countries can and sometimes do use different nomenclature. "Pearl grey" is a term used to refer to self-blue birds in England and parts of Europe. Grey, in American usage, is essentially partridge with silver instead of gold ground colour.

Note that it is possible to build a self-blue bird with the blue gene rather than lavender, but to my understanding is probably a lot more difficult, as you must remove the darker colour on head, hackle and saddles that is typical on blues.
