Hoping you silkie experts can help me. I am starting this as a hobby for my kids who love their silkies and who knows where it eventually might go. Right now we have 4 silkies, all hens ( I beleive). A really nice looking black, a poorly colored Buff/Partridge, a four month old splash that is gorgeous, and a four month old white that looks pretty good. We have a handful of other large and bantam breeds as well. I am looking to get a silkie roo to put with these girls. Talking a hobby here! But what would be the best color roo to get to provide a nice variety of littles. Is there a dominant color? Would a splash and X give me more splash or paint?
Thanks!
I posted a photo of the following cockerel a few weeks ago when he was just a little over 4 mths. I am trying to rehome him as his color and comb won't be useful to me for breeding. But, we discussed how his back was way too long and when it was pointed out I could definitely see it and that was good since I am trying to learn everything I can. He is now 5 months and a couple of days ago I realized his back no longer looks too long. Is a long back just based on the way they stand and he just hadn't matured yet?
Here he is at 4 months
