Silkie thread!

So cute wow that is the first time I have seen a Silkie look like the large chick in the bunch!

Hello all, I just thought I would share some pics of my first silky! She's not SQ, but I just want her for a broody. Thanks birdsnbeast for this little beauty

Thanks! the picture came out really sharp-- yeah, it would have been nicer with a bit more foreground. He kept turning away from me and I had to keep trying to get in front of him. He's been fairly difficult to capture.

Cherwill-- WOW!! LOVE your little beauty! She is so pretty and you did a great job fluffing her! :)

Mschickenlittle-- cute silkies and peeps. :)

sagersilkies, no idea if that is gapeworm or not. Never dealt with it before. I do know that I did have a couple of birds yawning like that and I took them to the vet. He said it's upper respiratory congestion. So she could be really congested. I'd get on that. Clean out the bedding, make sure there is no mold , no water spilling anywhere. Make sure it's as dry as possible with great venting for fresh air. And put some VetRX in their water. That's just my opinion.
ETA: -- just wanted to add in case you have not used VetRX or are cautious about using meds-- this is an all natural, purely essential oil blend. It smells sort of like vicks vapor rub, has a great menthol smell and is supposed to help clear them up. The other essential oils in there are great at fighting bacteria- naturally. You can drop a couple drops in their water and even rub a bit on their beak around their nose.
thank u hawk eye i have givin them wormer just incase the only thing is is that the little guy wont drink the water

oh not good if he isn't drinking! I'm sort of a pro with a syringe (no needle) and getting fluid down their beaks. DO get fluid down him, or he won't have much longer. Be careful not to get too much down his beak at a time-- just little drops and keep it up until you've gotten enough down. The VetRX can also be rubbed on his beak. It sounds like he might be past the time where you could have used the VetRX with good results... with him not drinking.. eek. If you have a lot invested in him, or just really, really love him, I'd probably get him to the vet. If they can't breathe, they don't want to drink. I've used injection Baytril with good results, too. If you have that on hand, it is .25cc. (I use an insulin syringe) But I'd get on the dropper/syringe with sugar water and electrolytes to keep him going in the mean time. How long has this been going on?

These are my 8 silkies I hatched out 4 weeks and 3 days ago. Here they are.

I was wondering about their quality? Is it to early to tell? Also can anyone tell which are roos and hens yet?? Some have some big combs...

Some chicks look about the same so I couldnt tell them apart. Lol

I'm going to apologize in advance for this... because it's not silkie related. I'm sorry!!! But I just HAD to share because I was sooo excited this morning. My Royal Palm turkey laid her first egg-- my first egg! It was such a shock because I've been told that turkey's don't lay in the winter. That could be bogus info, but I wasn't expecting it! I ran around this morning practically jumping up and down. Called my Dh and he was like "eh, great". So I had to share with other poultry people!
