Silkie thread!

Is there anyone on here from Arkansas in driving distance with an extra sq silkie roo or hen that I could buy? I'm in the Dardanelle/Russellville area. I would consider any color except white and buff. I would love to use a couple to improve my sizzle pen.
Edited to add: I would prefer bantams since my sizzles are small.

Im finally joining in the whole silkie craze, and boy am i happy with this little one. Its topknot is huge, it seems to be healthy, and boy! its feet are feathered like a snow bird!

I have Silkies that should be hatching Thursday. Any advise for the lockdown phase? I have been hatching my own bantams that have the same size egg, without having to help too much, using the advise on the sticky in the incubating and hatching forum--"A guide to humidity, weighing and lockdown". These eggs were shipped and some have misshaped aircells, and their weigh is a bit low, but they are still kicking. Does anyone have any advise that is especially helpful for hatching Silkies, or will following the same steps as the others be fine? Do you use cartons? I've used both, but do like the cartons better, but is this best for these special little babies? I'm getting stressed already....these, hopefully, will be my first Silkies!

I have 5 little white silkies about 2 weeks old...cant wait to hatch some myself I've heard they take a long time to lay though. can someone give me an estimate of when they should lay? crow? and at what age i shold be able to tell if they are roos or pullets?

Minimum of six months. Sometimes up to a year. my last ones were around 8 or 9 months.

My 12 week old white roo has been crowing on and off for the past week. I was able to tell their gender at 9 weeks, but I have a much older silkies and I am still not sure of its gender.

I try to get my lock down humidity around 70 - 75. I do occasionally help one. I also like cartons.

Crowing usually 3 to 10 months. My silkies usually start laying at 6 mths but that is unusual. Must be the mountain elevation. I had one lay two days before 5 months. But normal is 6 - 10 mths.

The better the quality the harder they are to sex. Hatchery chicks can usually be sexed around 9wks. The fluffier silkies sometimes take 4 - 6 mths.
