Silkie thread!

I hope your son is doing well and recovering from his surgeries. My daughter and I have found chickens to be very relaxing and therapeutic...and hopefully you will enjoy them as much as we do.
Thank you. He is recovering wonderfully. We were blessed with wonderful doctors and plenty of prayers.

I think I find the chickens more therapeutic than anyone else in the family. My kids realize that they are a lot of work especially for 56 of them. When I visit them, I don't think about anything but them and how they surprise me everyday with their personalities. My daughter has rouens and they are her big babies. They 'bark' for her when they see her coming up. That's what she calls it when they quack for her. It's the funniest thing.

Hi - I am new to the silky thread. Here are a few of my silkies - I am starting to show them in Oct.

Beautiful!

Thank you all so much for your condolences. I'm so hoping that the other ones are growing also. I have tried to candle but I really don't get it. I need to look at images again to refresh my memory as to what they are to look like at day 11. I would hate to throw away an egg I think looks like there is nothing and find out it had a growing fetus in it.

Again thank you all.

Well that makes me more sad! So sorry about your growing chick...

Roger is gone. Something made off with him today, and I don't know what. I can not find him, or a feather trail, or body parts... He is just gone I am thinking a fox maybe?? I mean, what else could take off with a silkie and not leave any trace?

I am just devasted.. To survive a hawk and then a raccoon raid...
Oh my...Roger survived so much and now to be gone is horrible. Mine free range in the backyard and it scares me about a hawk taking off with one of them. I hope you can find him well somewhere. So sorry :(

They are drool worthy clover run!
Thank you - I am very excited to start showing them and then breeding. I am unbalanced with colors - I have 2 fabulous white roos - both a bearded and a non bearded. My pullets though are all black (4) - one blue and one splash - so you can see my issue. I need to aquire an fab black roo and a few fab white pullets.

I also have an amazing partridge showgirl - not sure what I am doing with her yet.

I believe your girls are splash. Here's pictures of a couple of mine.

I wish my chicks would grow faster. Going on 6,5 weeks now.. Out of the 3 splash chicks I ended up with, only one is a good one. One has pink on it's toes, one has 6 toes on each foot and the third one has everything good so far. I'm keeping all toes & fingers crossed for a show quality bird!!

At least breeding quality...and then I can die happy. lol

Well let me tell you what... I let Roger breed with a white silkie... I have one black... one black with gold leakage... one I have no idea... I was advised that I shouldn't have done that since there was no telling what I would get... boy was that true!
