Silkie with neck problem, *UPDATED*

Adding more: A question about Cinnabar's crookneck problem.
Is Cinnabar going to seem to get worse before he starts getting better???

When we 1st discovered he (since he's crowing) was having a problem, it wasn't bad, only tilting his head to the side, and a little bit of backing up. That started early Saturday morning. Now after doing the vitamin and prednisolone treatment as per Alan Stanford's treatment for crookneck, Cinnabar seems to be getting worse. He is backing into things more (and he only has a little room in the pet carrier) and his neck is drooping between his legs. This is only when he gets stressed (before meds and a bit after meds), but it just seems worse. I know most creatures get worse before they get better, is it the same with a chicken. I feel so bad for him, and just wish it had not happened. He's my baby and I don't want him getting worse.

My poor Baby

He is so pretty, and I hope he recovers completely, I know nothing about Silkies other than I would like to have some, But there are alot of Silkie people on here who will be happy to help so just hang on and I'll give ya a bump up top...

Got Cinnabar a larger cage, the pet carrier was just to small to have to keep getting him out of for meds.
He's eating and drinking good, and relaxes often. I put a short sided box with hay in it for him to rest in. Also drapped a towel over the side so he can't see us moving around much.
Hopefully with the extra space he doesn't have problems (like hurt himself, worse).
Will update often.

about 4 years ago, one of my baby roos got pecked on the head by his father and immediately went into "seizures",his head would be twisted upside down and he kept backing up
being fairly new to chickens at that time i figured he was done for, but i do not give up easily
" Lucky" went to work with me everyday and i had to hand feed him and water him for about a month. he eventually was able to do it on his own and i was told to give him childrens "polyvisol" vitamins which he still gets 1cc every month and i actually give it to all my Silkies in case they have any deficiencies. they are doin great

, we started the 2nd week of treatment today and he is standing taller, crowing in reply to Mom's Sultan Roo. He only gets upset when it's med/vit time, but he's a trooper takes his vitamins and pred like a champ. We ordered the Avia Charger 2000 from McMurray for all the chickens. Will be starting them on it after it gets here. We'd rather keep them on a vit supplement than have them develop any deficiency later down the line.
The 5 Sunroom bunch are the Rare ones and it would tear mom up if something happened that we could have prevented. She already blames herself for Cinnabar getting hurt, and I've told her many times since, it's not her fault, it happens.
If Mom's Blue Silkie is a roo (although not crowing yet) we'll have to keep them seperated, we won't have them competing and hurting themselves.
I sit at the diningroom table and watch Cinnabar all day while I'm on my laptop. He is gonna be a beautiful bird.
Well off to facebook, I have some games to check on.
Later

I am glad to hear he is doing well...

keeping them all on a vitamin program really does save a lot of aggravation later
along with the vitamins i worm them regularly as well with pour on ivermectin
it is cheap at the TSC store if you have one near you. just about 3 drops between their shoulder blades and i have never seen any mites.
keep up the great work!!!!
