Silkie

I never noticed they do. Maybe they are afraid of the "Big hand," that reaches for them. How old are they? Some birds don't like being petted or held but will jump in your lap if you sit near them. You could ask on the "Silkie thread."

Maybe they like it. My cockatiel closes her eyes when I scratch under her chin, it's almost like she is dozing off.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Some of my polish do this when they are being petted. As long as your silkie is not trying to escape from you and is happy being held I would not be too worried. Most of mine enjoy lap sitting and a few even nod off and have 40 winks when they are being held. For me it just means they are happy and content.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your silkie in the future.
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

My lap sitting red sex link girl does that too. I take it she is enjoying the attention and she seems very relaxed, to the point where she dozes off.

Thanks for joining us!

Thanks, I'm enjoying having them, still got plenty to learn. I am sure there will be more questions
