I would also say roo. Is he fighting with other cockerels? My silkie roos started fighting at like 8 weeks old and crowded at 12.

Hes not fighting hes almost 10 weeks. I have him and another male together. My silkie girls died :(
I'll just mention how we raise/breed silkies for what it's worth. They can become vitamin deficient if not fed chicken feed and given too much extras.

Yours and all chickens should be on chick crumbles or all-flock until the pullets start laying. For our purebred silkies this is around 7-8 months. Ours are on all-flock from hatch to adult. We use Kalmbach's Flock Maker, 20% protein for every bird on the property, with the exception of parrots. I give no treats for their first month, and after that, a little scrambled eggs. Most anything else, they're going to also need grit. Treats should be kept to a minimum, as anything else they are eating besides their feed is taking away from the vitamins and nutrients they need.

We occasionally supplement their feed by putting in a 1/4 dosage of Rooster Booster granules. I also keep a bottle of Poultry Cell vitamins, which I'll add to their water within the first days of hatching, and again before they go outside. After that, if I see any looking down or sneezing, I put that in their water.

For laying pullets/hens, they receive a separate dish of oyster shell. Those who need it, eat it.

I can guess at ours at around 12 weeks. I can't definitively tell on several until at least 16 weeks. That one's comb could stop growing right there, and then eventually would be normal for a pullet, so we're not 100% here.

I've had a couple get to 6-8 months and switch sexes on me. :)
