Are duck crosses infertile? I've been wondering of late why no one crossbreed a ducks

Not exactly, you see muscovies are one of the few domestic duck breeds NOT DERIVED from mallards. So most domestic ducks that cross breed are fertile, but if you cross a muscovy to say a mallard or ancona it will produce infertile offspring because they don't have the same number of chromosomes. Basically you get a mule (If fact thats what people call them) Its the same thing as if you were to cross a horse with a donkey
