Yep. Though, it's kind of my fault. I didn't spend much time with him after I lost my other (more favored XD) cock, so he and this current flock aren't the friendliest. But the peas are!Is he mean?

No, but he's certainly tried to. I hit him with my feed bucket this morningOh, I see. Has he got you yet?
I've taken to walking backwards so I can see him while I feed the birds. Haha. Thankfully, though, he and his five ladies are only let out every other dayNo, but he's certainly tried to. We've got a few dogs, just not GOOD dogsAh. You need a good dog, not one chicken will come near you then!![]()
Have you read up on how to handle mean Roos?
I've got guineas. That's close enough. Oh. Lol!We've got a few dogs, just not GOOD dogsI've got guineas. That's close enough.
I've read a few things. Some people are like "beat the tar out of them!" Then some are like "get rid of him. You can't breed nice roosters from him." So I really don't know what to do.
I avoid eye contact with him, and I don't chase him or run from him, and I've made sure my fam knows not to either.
When I had Jimmy (he had a pretty big head) I found it helpful if I carried him around for a bit every once and a while (especially if he came after me or anyone else) also don't side step or go around him if he's in your path as that shows him you are afraid of him and puts him in charge, make him move instead and don't be timid about it either. I didn't have many problems with Jimmy after I did that (maybe once every 3 or 4 months) and my little brother (who's actually taller than me :/) who didn't do that had Jimmy chasing him all the time. Also don't show fear as that encourages him. And one last thing, don't hold me to this since your bird isn't Jimmy and it may or may not work
But it should help.
I told him this morning if he touched me I'd make supper out of him, but it probably just went over his head
Thanks for the advice.
I'm not really scared of him.
I like to threaten him verballyI told him this morning if he touched me I'd make supper out of him, but it probably just went over his head
Yeah, I make him move. If he doesn't then I'd just walk on him probably. Haha.
Sadly, he's my only cock besides my silkies, and I don't want to put a Silkie cock with big hens.
He's only 6 months, which is usually when males start getting all hormonal, so maybe he'll calm down. Otherwise, it'sfor him![]()
I understand.
