I had a couple of chicks returned because they were cockerels and the owners couldnt keep and one has developed silkie feathering,he is a light sussex,I dont know anything about his heritage because I bought the eggs at auction as light sussex bantams and I have two of his sisters who are normal feathering any ideas would be welcome and is it possible to breed more silkied LS using him?how would I go about it

the silkie feathering takes two copies of the gene to be expressed so breed him to his sisters odds are they carry a copy and you might get more in the first generation, other wise breed him then breed those back to each other and in theory 25% will be silkie feathered then box them up and ship them here

What a handsome little feather duster! Is there a way to get back in touch with the person you won the auction from? I wonder if there are more of these!

This one, even more than the silkied Ameraucanas, shows no resemblance to Silkies. He's beautiful.

How does it more so have no resemblance to Silkies than Ameraucanas?

Those are neat feathers there, but are you sure it is true Silkied feathering? The tail and wings look completely normal, and the rest looks like some sort of deficiency maybe?

Looks like silkiedness to me, my hatchery Silkies have much more "normal type" feathers in their wings and tail.

I would like to see pics of the wings fanned out I'm curious to see if the primaries are shredded like the silkies.

PS I am calling dibbs on any eggs you get

Because you don't have the common traits of dark shanks and small comb. (Though of course I realize pea comb and walnut comb are not the same, they are more closely related than a walnut comb and single comb.) And I was referring to the silkied Ameraucanas...in case that wasn't clear?
