Greetings all! I have been keeping chickens for about five years now. I have five chickens currently but have kept as many as 25. I currently have silkies (my preferred chicken), a grumpy frizzled Cochin, and gold lace black Wyandottes. I enjoy keeping chickens for their personalities in the yard/garden and of course their eggs. I am an avid gardener and enjoying spending time outdoors hiking, camping, kayaking - basically anything that involves nature. Currently we have one other pet, my son’s farm cat named Pete (the cat). I have used BYC threads for years to find quick information. I finally joined as my flock of silkies (19) was attacked by a hawk and I needed advice on drawing any survivors back to their coop.
