Hi all! I have two 3 week old Silkies who are eating and drinking and chipper and growing like weeds! I have noticed the last few days that they are shaking their heads quite a bit- more so than any of the other chicks i’ve had. No signs of any illness... poops are normal, they’re alert, no excessive sneezing and no wheezing. Could this be from their feathers coming in on their head or should I take action? I rubbed some VetRx on their beaks but wondering if I need to do more?

It is likely that this is caused from their new feathers coming in. I've never had Salkie babies before but I have had other Chickie babies. I've noticed it in a couple of my chicks in the past. I assume it is just from the new feathers coming in. It's safe to assume that the newly emerging feathers might cause some sort of discomfort to the babies. They will likely be just fine. As long as they are drinking and eating ok and acting normal. Just watch their behavior. I've always sprinkled a little bit of DT earth in their brooder just in case there's any mites or bugs.
