Hello! So the weather is high of low 50s and low of 30s. My silkies decided to just stand in the rain all day today with my other chickens. 🤦🏻‍♂️. They’re soaked and now it’s pitch black outside and everyone’s in their draft free coop. Are they going to be ok piled on top of each other, or should I actually grab em and dry them? I’ve seen so many mixed opinions. What says this group?

Thanks in advance!

I never needed to dry my Silkies here in the PNW.. but they were also roosting rather than piling. Piling creates quite a bit of body heat depending on age and population density within the pile.

If I have decided to clean a bumm using water.. I might still blow dry it.

Do whatever makes you most comfortable and is in your wheelhouse.. When I'm not sure.. it usually involves monitoring the situation and adjusting as needed.. something like sticking my hand in the pile and see if it feels warm or is anyone quivering type thing.
