Silkies and Sex links get along?

I have a couple of sex link hens and would like to introduce a couple silkies. I have no idea if it could be a bad idea and at what age to introduce the silies.

There will always be a transition period, but yes you can mix them. Wait until the chicks start clucking instead of chirping. Put them in cages near eachother where they can see and hear eachother but not touch eachother for a couple of weeks. Then we had 'play dates" where we let them free range together with supervision, making the length of time a bit longer each time. There will be squabbles for pecking order but as long as no one drew blood, we let t continue.

One word of caution we were not aware of is that non-crested birds are more likely to have issues with crested birds. I guess they think they look funny?
