Silkies and the heat.

Sounds like. Good idea even a poly carb veranda could work. I used to have a 5 by 3 m tunnel house for my silkies over winter, this year they had to go without after moving nd their new shed got delayed , however they had a huge run an house that had a poly carb veranda and they could sit up on the porch as they pleased, we were lucky it wasn't a cold snow winter, just very very flooded wet and frosty . If you think that it is to small and can't do anything to it then I would suggest putting in some perch branches, multi level or something and some things for them to do it can help to erase the Bordem and stop feather plucking

What is a poly carb veranda? Do you have any pictures?
The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a bad winter this year and I want to try to be ready for something like that in case it happens. I have read that Silkies can't or don't fly, how would they get to the perches? I have some roosting bars (2x4s) but if they don't fly they can't get to them. I do have some egg/milk crates turned on their sides but they might be too high for them too.

Your right, they cannot fly and no I don't as I lost mine moving house but ill look on the web to find a pic to show you

I don't know what is going to show up in this post but in your post all I can see it the house with the veranda (?) and the rest of the post is blank but when I put my cursor over it, it shows there is something there, it just isn't showing up.

Weird, sorry about that the pictures origionally came up on my computer, i'll post some more. yes I was talking a veranda like that kinda thing. this is the typical poly carb roofing that we have here in nz.
this is some fancy stuff that can be bought in other parts of the world, but it is the same thing. only thicker, thus bettwe for roofing sunrooms etc this is the poly carb we used to have on our veranda. It comes in different shades/hues and opaques

Oh, ok. I don't know what it is called here but we do have it. Where I was raise that thing would be called a ramada and have picnic tables under it. LOL We have one here on much, much bigger, with a tin roof of that stuff on it. Makes a lot of noise when the hail or tree branches/twigs hit it. It has an earth floor and the previous owners put some cinder blocks between most of the supporting posts. I think I'd use it for my birds but my husband has a boat under it. LOL
