Silkies and their umm psychological sitting issues

after all of our silkies that were gonna lay eggs started to lay eggs we gathered them for about 4 days and today I found 1 of my hens in her nest sitting on not 5,4,3,2, or 1 egg, but NOTHING

Yeah, they can be REAL determined to set and I also have some that will happily sit on nothing at all! I have the same thing every day now with some of my Silkie hens, but I just cannot justify them trying to hatch out babies as cold as it is right now. But, like I said, they can be VERY determined to get their way!

I'm glad to read that it's not just my silkie, but silkies in general. I have to remove my silkie from the nest every single day. She'll eat, drink and peck around with the others for about 5 minutes and the she runs right back to the nest.
