Silkies are first chicks....

I absolutely love the silkie chicks...

These will be my first ones. They are 4 weeks old.

My plans for my flock was dual purpose brown egg layers.... That being said silkies do not fit at all but I did find some semi local ones I would love to get. Should I get them even though they do not fit into my plan?

She has 6 of them.....

HELP... I need HELP. I have not even got a darn chicken yet and plans are changing....

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!! run and get them now! they are the best chicken breed ever! i have 7, even though i had the same plan as you, with 2 barnevelders, 4 OEG and 12 warrens!THEY ARE AMAZING! LOVELY BLUE EGGS AND VERY PRETTY FEATHERING! i wouldnt miss that opportunity, they are quite hard to get your hands on! they make a lovely addition to both flocks and back yards! sooo timid! dont let them go! HURRY!

Yes to the Silkies! Even if you only get a few of them as "pets" per say, you could always get a few of another breed to stick with your original plan

i had plans when i first started getting chickens. Those plans changed many many times. You will not regret getting silkies. They are the sweetest birds and bring a smile to my face every day.
