Silkies? hot hardy?

I have always wanted silkies, and am ordering a bantam assortment, come summer. so I'm wondering how hardy silkies are? my friend lost several silkies to cold and predators, and said they didn't do well in winter, but some people say they've had silkies die from heat... many books and websites however, say silkies are some of the most hardy birds out there... I'm honestly confused, and not sure what to believe at this point. what's your experience with silkies?

My silkies don’t tolerate heat or cold very well. Build a well insulated coop, it helps protect against both. Provide lots of ventilation and install a fan for summer and heat plate for winter. I have 2 large windows and a removable floor in my coop for summer air flow. Lots of shade is also helpful. Silkie feathers just don’t insulate like normal feathers so the need a little extra help.
