Silkies in Mesh Floor Coop

Hello,

I have about 20 silkies from 3 months to 3 wks that have a large freerange space and a night have started to go into my coop.
My question is that floor is mesh wire (of course the side areas below the coop are extremely protected so the poop of the chickens goes straight down to the floor). And no major cold here, today was 85 and we are in december, even though we have about 5 nights near freezing per year.

Anyways, should I add shavings to the mesh wire floor, I want to make sure it doesnt hurt their feet? or just leave the mesh floor?

I dont think hay would be good cuz it would collect poop on it to fast
